The 2013+ trucks with Sync 2 are blessed with the ability to upgrade to Sync 3 that comes with Apple CarPlay whereas 2009 - 2012 trucks are stuck with Sync 1 that cannot upgrade to Sync 2 nor 3. Yes, if you have a 2011 F150 with the sony audio, the amplifier is under the center console. I have searched on Crutchfield - they literally do not give you any radio recommendations, ZERO. Linkswell has T-style radios for 2013+ (they're blessed with it again) but they have no plans for '09-12.
